Expertise

CFU's head office is based in Lusaka, and employs 10 members of technical, administrative and support staff. Regional Managers and 60 field staff carry out day-to-day activities in each of the four regions in which CFU implements activities.

The Unit is headed by Peter Aagaard (National Coordinator) and Dutch Gibson (Deputy National Coordinator), who between them have over 60 years of experience in agriculture, the vast majority of which has been in Africa. Amongst other positions, Peter is a founding member of Zambia's Agribusiness Forum, as well as Arulussa Ltd, a producer of premium essential oils. His previous work has included positions as senior consultant, team leader and co-ordinator on a range of development projects for the World Bank, IFAD, European Union and the African Development Bank. Dutch's experience has ranged from irrigated agronomic research, to large-scale multinational commercial agro-industry. He also held the position of rural development consultive advisor in Zambia's Northern Province for over 7 years. This was one of ODA's international flagship projects.
